About Us

Friends of North Heath, at North Heath Community Primary School, is a registered charity (no. 1135858).

We seek to advance the education of pupils in the School by engaging in activities to provide facilities or equipment which support the School.  Under our Parentkind governing document 'Friends' funds are required to be spent on extra items and events that are not always provided by the School's normal budgets.  This helps make our children's learning experiences more fulfilling and exciting.

In addition we seek to develop effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the School.

Substantial projects we have contributed to include outdoor sustainable playground furniture for 'quiet zones' for individual or small group study, an outdoor shelter on the field, iPads for every child to share between two within the whole school, laptops & visualisers for every classroom and match-funding a redevelopment of the School Library.

How do we fundraise?

The majority of our funds are raised through the events that we run.  These usually include Autumn and Spring Adult Quiz nights, a Christmas Fair, Easter stalls, a Summer Fair, and pre-loved uniform sales.

During the restrictions due to COVID-19, we have had to replace some of these activities with more socially distanced ones.  For what's running or about to start see our Events On Now! page.  See our Events page for information on our regular events.

As a registered charity, we are also able to raise money through company match funding and can claim Gift Aid on donations given through sponsored events.  Further funds are gained from donations from Easy2name, Stamptastic and My Nametags clothing label commissions, Easyfundraising donations, and Cocoa Loco with commission on purchases

We also try to apply for grants, seek donations from other organisations and encourage our members to apply for match funding or similar schemes from their employers.

We also fundraise through the hire of our Earth-Friendly Party Packs.  For more information see our Hire page.

We are a 'Friends Association', which means every new parent/carer at North Heath is automatically a member of the ‘Friends’ when their child/ren start school.   Our membership is also open to staff and other friends of the school e.g. wider family and friends of the pupils and all local community members who would like to help us achieve our objectives.

Our association is managed by an annually elected Committee, currently made up of parents/carers of pupils at the School, and it is supported by our, simply amazing, School Community volunteers.  To find out more please go to our Get Involved page.
